Breaking up with Plaster

It’s been two years since Giorgio Dental took the leap into completing the full circle in our in-house Digital Workflow solution. We now operate the most advanced 3D Printing system for a Dental Laboratory in the Southern Hemisphere. In these two years we have worked hard to produce the most consistently accurate models in the Dental Industry from both Intraoral and Impression scanning.

The results make good reading for the sustainability nuts like myself. Tonnes of unrecyclable plaster, thousands of litres of water, courier times and costs slashed for us and our clients and beautiful, robust 3D resin models.

I can tell you that 2017 is an exciting year with our business doubling its 3D printing capacity with further equipment purchases and training. Model-less work is attracting even more demand with our ability to 3D print Occlusal Splints and Surgical Implant Guides for example.

You don’t even need to make that leap into Digital Workflows yet.

Our impression scanning process has been refined enough to accurately scan all of the physical impressions that we receive and we are confident in saying that by the end of next year we expect that 90% of our models will be produced in our Digital Workflow and therefore 3D printed.

So, if you haven’t made that leap into purchasing an Intraoral scanner, that’s fine, we will still produce a more accurate 3D printed model for you than a plaster model. The migration to a future with no plaster has begun and you will see the steady transition through the next year.

Our 3D resin models are consistently more accurate than old-school plaster models. They are robust and aesthetically pleasing to boot.

Sorry plaster it’s been great but it’s over.
