GIORGIO DENTAL - COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE.

Our Story

Clients have always been curious about how Giorgio Dental came to be, our philosophy and what makes us who we are. Our family business is just that. It’s family. We are family whether you share the same surname as George Thalassinos, our Director and Founder, or you’ve been our client for a short amount of time. It’s this level of care and importance attributed to every single case that comes through our doors. Every Zirconia crown, every porcelain veneer, every set of Dentures or every simple repair or reline is given the care that it deserves. We never forget that[READ MORE]

Breaking up with Plaster

It’s been two years since Giorgio Dental took the leap into completing the full circle in our in-house Digital Workflow solution. We now operate the most advanced 3D Printing system for a Dental Laboratory in the Southern Hemisphere. In these two years we have worked hard to produce the most consistently accurate models in the Dental Industry from both Intraoral and Impression scanning. The results make good reading for the sustainability nuts like myself. Tonnes of unrecyclable plaster, thousands of litres of water, courier times and costs slashed for us and our clients and beautiful, robust 3D resin models. I can tell you that 2017 is[READ MORE]

The rise & fall & the RISE of Australian Dental Manufacturing

I had the distinct pleasure of being invited to an Advanced Manufacturing Industry Roundtable Breakfast  at RMIT in Melbourne last week. In attendance were leaders of various Victorian Tertiary Education Providers, government representatives and heads of Industry and small business with an interest in Advanced Manufacturing. A particular focus of discussions was the advent of Additive Manufacturing namely 3D Printing and the educational outcomes required for this technology to be effectively applied.  One thing I can take away from the discussions had was a real motivation and energy to help Industry keep jobs here in Australia by taking advantage of the Innovation boom. Rather than[READ MORE]

The ever growing Giorgio Family

I’ve seen waves of change sweep through this Industry since I was a little boy running around the Laboratory watching George, director and founder of Giorgio Dental Laboratory, work his magic. Whilst some of the way we do things these days have changed, especially with the emergence of 3D Printing and Digital Design and Manufacturing, our philosophies on life and serving our clients has remained much the same. We are a family business and the whole team operating as a family is essential to producing the quality of work our Clientele expects. George also happens to be my father and[READ MORE]

Giorgio Dental recognised for reducing its Environmental Impact & leading the fight-back for Australian Dental Manufacturing.

Our determination to maintain Sustainable and Innovative Production processes in Australia has attracted a great deal of attention from within and outside the Dental Industry.  Producing products including Crown and Bridge, Implants and Full Arch Implant supported Restorations right here in Melbourne whilst still maintaining competitiveness on a global scale is a great example to Laboratories and other Australian manufacturing businesses. We kicked off the month with a prime-time feature and an interview with yours truly on Sky News with Jon Dee on his Smart Money TV Program. Watch that video here. Jon Dee is a former Australian of the Year, TV presenter[READ MORE]

Sustainability through Innovation. Why your Lab should be doing it too.

It’s been a whirlwind journey since our Family Business decided that it was time to continue on the visionary and innovative path set by our founder and Director, George Thalassinos. You see, its easy, very easy to throw your hands up in the air and say that Australian Manufacturing is dead in the water. It’s also very easy to say that establishing sustainable processes that have positive impacts on the environment is a costly and time consuming exercise. We could have done that. But, we didn’t. We believed in ourselves. We believed that not only we could compete but we could[READ MORE]
